WhatsApp Tests Exciting New Voice and Video Call Features on Android
WhatsApp is once again stepping up its game with a set of new features aimed at enhancing the user experience for voice and video calls. According to a recent report from WABetaInfo, these updates are currently being tested in the beta version 2.25.10.16 of WhatsApp for Android and are available to a limited group of beta testers.
🔇 Mute Before You Answer
One of the standout additions is a new mute option that appears directly in the notification panel when receiving a voice call. This lets users mute their microphone before picking up the call—ideal for those moments when you’re caught in a noisy environment and don’t want your background to take center stage as soon as the call connects.
🎥 Camera Toggle for Video Calls
Another handy feature being tested is the ability to disable your camera before answering a video call. Whether you need a second to fix your hair, adjust your lighting, or just aren't in the mood for face time, this option gives users more control and privacy. It’s especially helpful when receiving calls from unfamiliar contacts, as it ensures your camera won’t automatically activate.
😀 Real-Time Emoji Reactions
Adding a splash of personality to your video calls, WhatsApp is also testing emoji reactions in real time. Participants can now express themselves without interrupting the conversation—perfect for showing appreciation, laughter, or support while someone else is speaking.
🚀 Gradual Rollout
These features are currently only available to selected beta testers, but a wider release is expected in the coming weeks as WhatsApp continues its testing phase. There's no official word yet on when these updates will roll out to the general public, but they promise to bring more flexibility, privacy, and fun to your call experience once they do.
Stay tuned for updates as WhatsApp continues to evolve how we connect and communicate.
